Effective parenting is NOT instinctual. It is a learned behavior. Just like good accounting practices, teacher's education and counseling services effective parenting requires skills gained through education, mentoring and support.

Parent education provides an opportunity to enhance your parenting skills and style. We live in an information seeking era. The parent place is your "one stop" convenience store of parent education, referrals and support. If you have specific questions please feel free to call our office at 217-753-8730 to speak to one of our parent educators.

PASS IT ON 5K Relay The Parent Place was established in 1974, in Springfield, Illinois to teach local parents and professionals who work with children effective parenting skills.

We serve families with newborns, families in the midst of divorce/separation and families who want to enhance their parenting skills to become more effective parents.

Fees for services are based on a sliding fee scale for most services. Last year the parent place served over 7,000 parents in central Illinois while receiving exceptionally high evaluation ratings.

As a local not-for-profit agency we receive no financial support from a large national organization. Our agency is run on the generous support of our local community members, state agencies and the United Way of central Illinois.
